Decades ago, I collaborated with an architectural firm to develop one portion of our county's comprehensive land use plan - siting of human services facilities. <br />I have always seen collaborations with architects and community planners as opportunities where community psychologist can add value. We really do need to look beyond the traditional boundaries of psychology to find collaborations that build healthy communities.<br /><br />Interested community psychologists may want to read a book entitled "Defensible Space" for one insight into how physical structure contributes to community sense of safety and neighborhood.
